Thank you for visiting.

While the current economic climate in the United States warranted a decline in the number of teachers that were deployed this year, there were definite bright spots nonetheless.

Two of our Special Ed teachers were given the Extraordinary Service Award for their exemplary work that benefitted children of the special needs population.

For the first time, an International Teacher, one of ours, was chosen as Teacher of the Month in Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS).

Just recently, two Special Ed teachers whom we deployed in 2005 earned National Board Certification*. This recognition puts them in an elite circle of educators in the United States, a source of pride for every school system in America. For international teachers on the working visa, this is a rare achievement.

We applaud these teachers and the over 500 others who are achievers in their own right, who work daily to improve the lives of the children under their care. They have shown that Filipino Teachers not only can adapt, adjust and survive in the urban classroom. They can excel.

We are deeply saddened by the plight of the several hundred Filipino teachers in another part of the United States, whose case is being investigated by federal authorities. We hope that their story will serve as a cautionary tale to those who wish to undertake this great adventure. If done properly, it can be a positive and enriching experience for both the teachers and the population that they serve.

And if the goal for working overseas becomes a reality, let us remember that success will not be complete if we fail to do our share to help rebuild the country that we left behind..

It is the duty of every Filipino..... anywhere in the world,

*What is National Board Certification for Teachers?

A National Board certificate attests that a teacher was judged by his or her peers as one who is accomplished, makes sound professional judgments about students, and acts effectively on those judgments. It allows teachers to gauge their skills and knowledge against objective, peer-developed standards of advanced practice. Offered on a voluntary basis, National Board certification complements, but does not replace, state licensing. While state licensing systems set entry-level standards for novice teachers, National Board certification establishes advanced standards for experienced teachers.

National Board certification raises the quality of the teaching profession. It creates a high standard for the profession and the process itself offers high quality professional development. It is based on teacher self-reflection and inquiry, linked to the teacher's own teaching situation and practice. Accomplished teachers form the core of the teaching profession. Their knowledge and leadership are central to any effort to educate each student to high academic standards.
